Emmett Shear, the co-founder of Twitch, has confirmed via social media that he has accepted the role of CEO at OpenAI. In his announcement, Shear addressed the circumstances surrounding the departure of former CEO, Sam Altman - a process which has been widely criticized and has damaged trust in OpenAI.

Shear cited a three-part plan to address the controversy and guide OpenAI moving forward. His initial priority is to ensure OpenAI continues to serve all of its customers effectively.
Over the forthcoming 30 days, Shear's agenda includes:
- Hiring an independent investigator to examine the process that resulted in Altman's departure and produce a comprehensive report.
- Conducting meetings with as many employees, partners, investors, and customers as possible, recording notes, and sharing key insights.
- Reforming the management and leadership team in the wake of recent departures.
