According to a Bloomber report: Emmett Shear, the former CEO of prominent game-streaming site Twitch, has been hired by OpenAI's board to serve as its new Chief Executive Officer, refusing calls from investors to reinstate previous CEO Sam Altman.

Shear, who stepped down from his position in Amazon.com Inc.'s Twitch earlier this year, was brought onboard to succeed Altman, a move openly defying the demands of investors, primarily those led by Microsoft Corp. and Thrive Capital. Investors have been pushing for the board members to resign and for Altman's reinstatement.

Previously, board members of the San Francisco-based OpenAI had approached a minimum of two distinguished tech industry executives with the hope of filling Altman's previously vacated CEO role. The information was provided by a person who wished to remain anonymous due to the private nature of the discussions.
