According to PANews, a Toronto kidnapping case involving a $1 million Bitcoin ransom has resulted in a 13-year prison sentence for the main perpetrator, Keyron Moore. The incident occurred in 2022 when the victim, identified as A.T., was forcibly abducted at gunpoint in Thornhill. During the ordeal, A.T. was subjected to physical assault, burns, and sexual assault, and was coerced into paying a Bitcoin ransom. A.T. eventually managed to escape and report the crime to the authorities.

Moore has already served three years of his sentence, which has been deducted from the total. Another individual involved in the case, a minor identified as S.M., has been convicted, with sentencing scheduled for October 3. The court has issued an order to protect the victim's identity.
