Some may be surprised, but anger is actually a normal response to stress. You may be angry at the event that triggered the stress, or you may be angry at yourself for being chosen to suffer such a fate. No matter how hard you try, you may not be able to shake off persistent thoughts about unfair experiences, or feelings of particular anger toward those who have hurt you. These emotions may lead to resentment and lack of trust in those around you. Your sense of stability may have been shattered. The world may no longer be predictable or stable for you. In addition to being angry about what happened, you will undoubtedly feel angry at the persistence of your symptoms. You may also feel angry at those you believe are causing your stress.
The pattern of behavior associated with anger is a continuum. Some people are overcome by anger and become powerless. Others are able to take anger in stride and can easily express anger in healthy ways. In the most extreme cases, some traders become so incapacitated by anger and resentment that they cannot let go of their resentment toward certain people.
Some people are more prone to anger themselves. No matter how hard they try, they cannot shake off the negative and vengeful emotions that they are entangled with. They are unable to find respite from the negative thoughts that invade their consciousness both when awake and asleep. Although they are consumed by resentment, they are still able to function to a certain extent and often take the initiative to learn how to deal with angry emotions.
With practice, you can learn to express irritation, anger, and irritability, becoming familiar with the behavioral and emotional reactions of these emotions. This naturally improves the ability to express angry emotions verbally without violence. Then, you can learn to share your feelings with others. Simply talking about one's anger is often enough to dispel the anger and provide further understanding of why automatic interpretations and reactions arise in a certain situation.
When you learn to express your thoughts without fear of retaliation or harming others, you can begin to see the value of allowing other emotions to surface and confronting them. In addition, you will find that you have the right to express your opinions, state what you support and what you oppose, and express them accurately and clearly without having to swallow your anger. You don’t need to accumulate tension and resentment. The more you can begin to express these feelings, the more you will find yourself capable of expressing other feelings.
Stress is inevitable, and so are the emotions that come with it. Given that trading is an extremely draining, stressful profession, it is impossible for any trader to successfully trade for long while under the influence of these emotions. Stress is physically and mentally draining and is a limitation for most traders. Sometimes stress is caused by multiple factors, and it is helpful to explore these factors to see if you can find commonalities and then adjust them.
