#热门事件 Did U.S. President Joe Biden veto a House joint resolution to repeal SAB 121?
Uncle Lei briefly introduces what SAB 121 is. SAB 121 is an accounting standard of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission that requires financial institutions that hold cryptocurrencies for customers to keep these assets on their own balance sheets.
In making the veto decision, President Biden emphasized his commitment to protecting consumers and investors and said he would not support "any measures that would jeopardize the welfare of consumers and investors."
But earlier on Friday, Senator Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), a member of Biden's party, expressed concerns at the Consensus 2024 conference. He voted in favor of the resolution and noted that the guidance sets a different standard for cryptocurrencies than other financial industry assets.
