Fantom Foundation announced a partnership with one of the oldest banks in Tajikistan, Orienbank, to develop a national digital currency (CBDC) for the country.
Fantom technologies are used to digitize Tajik somoni for retail and commercial payments. The project is being implemented in cooperation with the Central Bank of Tajikistan. The future CBDC platform will also integrate the Iron Bank protocol.
After initial testing of the digital currency, Orienbank and Fantom intend to continue the project within the sandbox of the Central Bank of Tajikistan.
Let us remind you that the status of cryptocurrencies in Tajikistan has not been regulated. Nevertheless, the authorities oblige miners to pay taxes.
