In daily life, we always like to say "I have a friend", and then the words may become more and more irrelevant, but the cryptocurrency circle is a magical circle that never lacks outrageous things. If you stay in this circle for a long time, there will always be group friends who accompany you for a long time, and naturally you will become good friends. The bear market is the best time for nostalgia, so I came up with the idea of doing a series of articles to share the stories of group friends, and I named this series: I have a friend.
This is the first article in this series. I would like to first share the story of a group friend with whom I have had the best relationship over the years. From the very beginning when I met him in the group, I called him Shin-chan. Yes, he is the Shin-chan from Crayon Shin-chan. I can see his immaturity from his avatar. Even after I learned his real name, I still like to call him that.
It was a Ponzi scheme that brought us together. In 2020, he had not yet graduated from college. His family gave him 10,000 yuan to learn how to trade stocks. He didn't pay any tuition in the stock market, but he didn't make any profit either. In the middle of the process, he lost a few thousand yuan gambling on football with his roommates. He had a girlfriend and spent a lot of money. His living expenses were not enough, so he withdrew a few thousand yuan from his stock trading account. When he participated in this Ponzi scheme, he only had 5,000 yuan left for investment. It felt like 90% of the people who entered the circle at that time started with a Ponzi scheme. That's how we became group members. In the end, this Ponzi scheme ran pretty well, and those who participated in the early stage basically doubled their money. He liked to joke with group members in the group, and I thought he was interesting, so I added him on WeChat. At that time, I established the investment purpose of doubling the principal and then slowly making a profit. I called him when I ran away.
We didn't contact each other for a month or two after that. He told me that it was the first time he experienced making money so quickly, and he felt that the cryptocurrency world was more exciting than betting on football. He made some profits and losses after playing a few games. Up to now, he has about 15,000 yuan in his hands. A project with the concept of resonance brought us together again, and it was then that he began to learn about Bitcoin and Ethereum. After this project, we became more familiar with each other, and several like-minded friends formed a small group together. Until now, we still like to chat in this small group, talk about market views, and share some interesting projects.
What really made his assets cross the A6 mark was the platform coin of an exchange, which was also the first 10x coin he bought. He also shared this project with me at the time, but I felt it was unreliable because the exchange was not officially launched at that time and the tokens were gradually unlocked after the exchange began operations. Of course, it was finally proved that his vision was indeed unique.
After graduating from college with hundreds of thousands of dollars in his hands, he still followed the rules and found a job related to his college major. The salary was not high but it was relatively leisurely. I asked him if he had found a leisurely job specifically for cryptocurrency trading, and he said he hadn't really thought about it that much.
After that came the familiar bull market, and the rise of DeFi. As old investors, we had a fixed mindset and unsurprisingly missed the first wave of opportunities. At the time, we didn’t take it seriously, and when we talked about it, we all thought it was just another Ponzi scheme (now it seems that the bubble burst is indeed the case, but it still does not affect making money when the market is frenzy). We only realized it when DeFi was on the rise, and finally we rushed to buy EOS together, and during that time we bought Polkadot and EOS. So far, he has completed the leap from 5,000 to 1 million assets.
Although his escape from the top was not perfect, he still managed to retain his assets in the bear market. Now when I ask him what currency to buy, he will say Bitcoin without hesitation. After he had assets of several million, he withdrew more than one million, bought a BMW worth hundreds of thousands, quit his job and passed the civil service exam. When I talked to him recently, he said that he likes the bear market more, as there are many opportunities to buy high-quality currencies in a bear market. Of course, he said that he does not plan to bet on the next hot spot now, and he seldom looks at the market. He is just waiting for the arrival of the next bull market to complete the sprint from A7 to A8.
Do you have a friend who can share his story?
