Auditor refuses to hand over wallet with millions in cryptocurrencies linked to tax fraud
The São Paulo Public Prosecutor's Office fears that millions in cryptocurrencies confiscated during Operation Icarus may disappear, as the investigators have so far been unable to access the wallets of the accused. This was the operation that arrested Sidney Oliveira, founder of the Ultrafarma pharmacy chain, and Mário Otávio Gomes, statutory director of Fast Shop. According to information from the Metrópoles website, prosecutors stated they have evidence of the existence of millions in cryptocurrencies — potentially reaching R$ 10 million — linked to two tax auditors who are among the six arrested in the operation: Artur Gomes da Silva Neto, identified as the main operator of the scheme and suspected of having received R$ 1 billion in bribes, and Marcelo de Almeida Gouveia.
