😰 BTC is now under threat of a 51% attack as two mining pools control over 51% of the computational power.
What is a 51% attack?
This is a situation where one group or several combined miners gain control over most of the network's power (hashrate) — more than 51%.
Why is this dangerous?
If someone controls more than half of the computational power, they can:
✔️ Rewrite transaction history — for example, cancel their transfers (double spending).
✔️ Block other transactions — decide which transfers get into the blockchain and which do not.
✔️ Monopolize block creation — effectively temporarily “take over” the network.
What they CANNOT do:
✔️ Steal other people's BTC from wallets.
✔️ Create new coins beyond the limit.
But this is unlikely because:
Foundry - USA (33%)
AntPool - China (18%)
Unless they are in collusion.
