⏪ This man { Haym Salomon } was so wealthy that he lent money to America
Brief overview about him:
He was a trader of Polish Jewish descent, born around 1740 in Leszno, and moved to America in 1775 where he became an important financial intermediary during the American Revolution.
He assisted the new continental government by converting French loans into ready cash, and also provided direct loans from his own wealth, including a crucial loan of $20,000 in 1781 to support the Yorktown campaign led by George Washington. His contributions helped finance the American Revolution in the end.
Despite his sacrifices, he died bankrupt in Philadelphia in 1785 after the loaned funds were not repaid.
