This statement comes in response to former U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent remarks suggesting that Ukraine might consider exchanging land for peace during planned discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin set for August 15 in Alaska.
Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine will not surrender any part of its land and warned that any peace deal arranged without Ukraine’s direct participation would be illegal and pose significant risks. Fighting continues as Russia still holds about 20% of Ukrainian territory following its invasion.
Despite increasing international pressure to initiate peace talks, Zelensky stands firm that any agreement must fully uphold Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
