Polkadot
Latest news: By the end of the year, Polkadot Hub will be fully launched! In the latest live broadcast, Alice and Bob shared several important updates in the ecosystem, including the launch time of Polkadot Hub, OpenGov reforms, DOT inflation adjustments, and new models for community economic growth. Here are the key highlights:
Polkadot Hub launch timeline:
1. Migration of Staking and governance.
Kusama: October 7.
Polkadot: November 4.
2. Smart contract launch.
Kusama: Mid-October.
Polkadot: Mid-December
So basically, by mid-December, Polkadot Hub will be in a fully launched state!
OpenGov reform is underway.
To improve governance efficiency and proposal quality, the community has proposed two key reforms:
1. Parameter Adjustments.
The proposal submission deposit has been increased from 1 DOT to 10 DOT.
Raise the voting participation threshold to reduce invalid proposals.
A maximum of 5 proposals are allowed to enter the voting stage per track.
Proposal cancellation mechanisms are more flexible, facilitating the cleanup of spam proposals.
2. OpenSync proposal mechanism.
Supports similar proposals 'Bidding on Chain' and introduces RFP (Request for Proposal) system.
Promote price transparency and service competition among execution teams.
Introduce a curator role to supervise delivery quality.
Dual-track reforms for DOT inflation model and economic growth model.
1. Supply-side discussion: Inflation decompression.
The community is voting on the 'decompression path' for DOT's annual inflation! https://x.com/polkaworld_pro/status/1951548116639031772
2. Demand-side discussion:
Currently, only 2% of DOT is actually used on-chain, with the rest mostly staked or idle.
Proposal to redistribute part of staking rewards as 'DOT capture incentives,' distributed according to the actual number of DOT held by parachains.
Stimulate inter-chain competition and encourage real economic activities (DeFi, NFTs, payments, Staking derivatives, etc.)
Simulation models show that on-chain active DOT could be increased from 11M to 280M, releasing nearly $1 billion in on-chain economic vitality.
The Polkadot Launch Party will be held in September-October.
This will be the largest Polkadot community event since the launch of parachains in 2021, covering:
Global online Hackathon (one month long).
Global offline Meetups (for developers and users).
Social media dissemination campaign (showcasing real progress and new stories on-chain).

The goal is to make DOT easier to use and spread. Stay tuned! https://x.com/polkaworld_pro/status/1953805562170552410
Core Multisharing is undergoing practical demonstration on the Polkadot testnet! A core (Core 36) is simultaneously finalizing blocks for 6 chains: [4901, 4911, 4913, 4920, 4932, 4933]! They share the same high-quality block space while sharing operational costs. This is true efficient expansion! https://x.com/polkaworld_pro/status/1953647053701361892
Supplementary knowledge, the innovation of Core Multisharing:
Multiple chains share a core: multiple chains package their own blocks and submit them to the same core for finalization.
Shared costs: there is no need for each chain to rent an independent core, greatly reducing operational costs.
Increase core utilization: inactive chains no longer waste exclusive resources, which can also lower Polkadot's security costs.
Stronger multi-chain parallel capability: the network can support more rollups or appchains running simultaneously.
In the Polkadot ecosystem, the Web3 Foundation is often misunderstood as the 'official management agency,' but it actually maintains a more fundamental role: to serve, coordinate, and promote the implementation of Web3 ideals. As the ecosystem continues to evolve, the Foundation's organizational structure is also continuously adjusting. Recently, Bill Laboon was appointed as the Foundation's Vice President of Ecosystem, marking the Foundation's attempt to incorporate ecosystem development, funding mechanisms, community collaboration, and technological promotion into a more unified strategic perspective.
From education and governance to now coordinating construction and ecological growth, Bill's new role is not just a position upgrade, but reflects how the Web3 Foundation is rethinking its position in a decentralized ecosystem. In the latest episode of Space Monkeys, Bill shared how the Foundation is viewing the future of Polkadot — as well as the shared fate of Kusama, JAM, and the entire Web3 world. (Web3 Foundation major adjustment: Bill Laboon appointed Vice President of Ecosystem, unified strategic layout, and launched the Polkadot Agents program!)
Kusama is no longer just Polkadot's canary network; it is growing into a more independent ecosystem!

If everyone just wants to post a meme, then why is JAM going to the effort to build a powerful system?
Gavin Wood: 'If your system itself is bad, people can only create bad things on it. The system itself implies what it can be used for. The reason Ethereum is more 'useful' than Bitcoin, to some extent, is because it's not as bad — it offers some flexibility that allows you to do more things. In contrast, Bitcoin can do much less.'
JAM is a 'completely different level' computing platform.
Just like when you played 16-bit old computer games on your Amiga500, suddenly someone gave you a brand new PC — it's 32-bit, has 10 times the memory, has a hard drive, has a floating-point unit, and is a completely different level of machine. You might not even know what you can do with this new computer, but you know that what you can do is definitely far more than before!
As algorithms disguise themselves as 'humans' and AI begins to dominate conversations, we are gradually losing our ability to discern the real. In the 'post-truth era,' we must redefine — what is real, credible, and human-centered.
In JAM's latest documentary, Gavin Wood responds to the crisis of the times with a brand new technological philosophy at top universities and tech communities around the world. At the same time, the documentary also captures the dialogue across universities, communities, developers, and ordinary people in 2025! Click below to view the complete video!
Breaking news! Polkadot Hub will support 100% EVM compatibility!
Recently, in addition to the inflation mechanism reform, there is another major piece of news crucial to Polkadot's ecosystem development: Parity announced that Polkadot Hub will achieve 100% EVM compatibility by the end of 2025 while maintaining preview support for PVM. This initiative will significantly enhance the feasibility and speed for Ethereum developers and third-party services to access Polkadot.
Major decisions and changes.
Parity has decided to pause all work except for the migration to Asset Hub, focusing solely on EVM compatibility development.
EVM compatibility is based on the widely used and audited REVM implementation, balancing speed and security.
The goal is to deliver complete EVM compatibility and PVM preview support by mid-December 2025.
Technical solution highlights.
REVM + pallet-revive: Supports coexistence of EVM and PVM dual stacks.
Compatible with Hardhat/Foundry toolchains, developers can natively deploy Solidity contracts.
Supports advanced features like Anvil development nodes, XCM pre-compilation, cross-contract calls, etc.
Development timeline
✅ Now live: PVM preview version Phase One (Kusama)
🔜 September: The second phase of the PVM preview will go live on Kusama, including ERC20 & basic XCM.
🔜 Late October: Kusama Hub will launch 100% EVM compatible REVM.
🔜 Mid-December: Polkadot Hub will launch REVM and PVM preview versions.
