Don’t Say “I Can’t”

Never say, “I cannot do this” —

Think once, why should you not?

What five can do, you too can achieve;

Whether you can or not, just try again,

If once you fail, attempt a hundred times.

Don’t let your face grow heavy with “I can’t”;

I never want to hear such words from you.

The lazy and the witless achieve nothing —

But you are nothing like them.

So why repeat “I can’t” again and again?

No one learns to swim without entering the water,

No one learns to walk without falling down.

To master swimming, you must first step in the water;

If you stumble, rise again and walk.

Say, “I can,” and move forward with joy
