🚨Latest News: By the end of the year, Polkadot Hub will be fully launched!
In the latest live stream, @aliceundbob shared several important updates regarding the ecosystem, including the launch date of Polkadot Hub, OpenGov reforms, DOT inflation adjustments, and a new model for community economic growth. Here are the key highlights:
1⃣ Polkadot Hub Launch Timeline
1. Migration of Staking and Governance
Kusama: October 7
Polkadot: November 4
2. Launch of Smart Contracts
Kusama: Mid-October
Polkadot: Mid-December
So basically, by mid-December, Polkadot Hub will be in a fully operational state!
2⃣ OpenGov Reform in Progress
To improve governance efficiency and proposal quality, the community has proposed two key reforms:
1. Parameter Adjustments
The deposit for proposal submission is increased from 1 DOT to 10 DOT
Increase voting participation threshold to reduce invalid proposals
A maximum of 5 proposals allowed per track to enter the voting phase
Proposal cancellation mechanism is more flexible to help clean up spam proposals
2. OpenSync Proposal Mechanism
Supports “competitive on-chain” for similar proposals, introducing an RFP (Request for Proposals) system
Promotes price transparency and service competition among execution teams
Introduces curator roles to oversee delivery quality
3⃣ Dual-track Reform of DOT Inflation Model and Economic Growth Model
1. Supply-side Discussion: Inflation Relief

2. Demand-side Discussion:
Currently, only 2% of DOT is actually used on-chain, the rest is mostly staked or idle
Proposed to redistribute some staking rewards as “DOT Capture Incentives,” distributed based on actual DOT holdings per parachain
Stimulate inter-chain competition and encourage real economic activities (DeFi, NFTs, payments, staking derivatives, etc.)
Simulation models show that we can increase on-chain active DOT from 11M to 280M, releasing nearly 1 billion dollars in on-chain economic vitality
4⃣ Polkadot Launch Party will be held in late September to early October
This will be the largest Polkadot community event since the launch of parachains in 2021, covering:
