Major Breakthrough in Ethereum L1 Scaling! Gas Limit Soars to 45 Million, Ushering in a New Era of Performance Revolution!!!

On August 6, the Ethereum Foundation announced a significant update as the L1 scaling process reaches a key milestone. In terms of technical architecture, Marius van der Wijden has joined the core team, co-leading the L1 scaling efforts with Ansgar Dietrichs and Tim Beiko, strengthening the technical team's capabilities. In terms of performance enhancement, the mainnet gas limit has been significantly raised from 20 million to 45 million, marking an important step towards the goal of 100 million gas, which will significantly increase transaction throughput and reduce network congestion. At the same time, all major execution layer clients have deployed the pre-merge history record expiration feature, greatly reducing node disk usage and optimizing storage efficiency.

This upgrade is an important achievement following Ethereum's restructuring of the research and development team in June and renaming it to 'Protocol', focusing on three strategies: L1 scaling, blob scaling, and user experience improvements. The increase in gas limit will directly benefit application scenarios such as DeFi and NFTs; for example, transactions on Uniswap will be more efficient, and the minting and trading of NFTs on OpenSea will also be smoother. As performance bottlenecks are gradually overcome, Ethereum is expected to solidify its leading position in public chain competition, attract more developers and users, and inject strong momentum into ecological prosperity.
