💘💘Slow down, take your time, it's better to be cautious

Most colleagues are very excited because a new supervisor has been transferred to the unit, said to be a talented person specifically assigned to rectify the business. However, as days go by, the new supervisor shows no signs of action, entering the office politely every day but rarely stepping out.

Those bad actors who were originally very nervous are now even more rampant. He is not a talented person at all! He is simply a nice guy, easier to fool than the previous supervisor!

Four months passed, and just as the truly hardworking colleagues were feeling disappointed in the new supervisor, he suddenly took action: all bad actors were dismissed, and the talented ones received promotions. The speed of his actions and the decisiveness in handling matters were a stark contrast to his previously conservative demeanor, making it seem as if he had completely changed.

At the year-end gathering, after a few rounds of drinks, the new supervisor gave a speech: "I believe everyone must be puzzled by my performance during my initial period and the subsequent bold measures. Let me tell you a story, and you will understand."

"I have a friend who bought a house with a large yard. As soon as he moved in, he completely tidied up that yard, removing all the weeds and trees, and replanted it with the flowers he had just bought. One day, the original owner visited, walked in, and was shocked to ask, 'Where did the most precious peony go?'

My friend then realized he had mistakenly treated the peony as a weed and removed it. Later, he bought another house, and although the yard was even messier, he did not take any action.

Sure enough—plants that he thought were just weeds in winter bloomed beautifully in spring; those he assumed were wild grass turned into lavish greenery in summer; and a small tree that had been silent for half a year surprisingly turned red in autumn.

It was only until late autumn that he truly recognized which plants were useless and forcefully removed them, allowing all the precious flora to be preserved.

At this point, the supervisor raised his glass: 'Let me toast to each one of you present! If this office is a garden, then you are the precious trees among it. Precious trees cannot bloom and bear fruit all year round; only through long-term observation can they be recognized!'

Don’t rush to judge a person; brief interactions cannot help you understand someone. An erroneous judgment might cost you a good helper or a good friend.
