In December 2020, hackers stole 127,426 BTC from the Chinese mining pool LuBian, which controlled almost 6% of Bitcoin's hashrate. At that time, the damage was estimated at $3.5 billion; today, the stolen BTC is worth $14.5 billion. Neither the pool nor the hackers had reported the attack until today.

On December 28, the attackers withdrew more than 90% of the BTC, and the next day they took another $6 million in BTC and USDT. LuBian transferred the remaining funds to reserve wallets and sent 1.4 BTC to the hackers through 1,516 transactions, asking them to return the assets, but without success.

So far, the attackers have not touched the mined BTC, and their wallet is now valued at $14.5 billion — making it the 13th largest holder of BTC in the world.
