Restaking is a hot topic in DeFi, but it can get complicated. Kelp DAO, a core product of the #KernelDAO ecosystem, makes it easy to participate. This simple, step-by-step tutorial will walk you through how to use Kelp to turn your staked ETH into rsETH—a liquid, yield-bearing token that earns multiple layers of rewards.
What is rsETH?
Think of rsETH as a supercharged token. It’s a Liquid Restaking Token (LRT) that represents your staked ETH in the Kelp DAO system. The best part? It automatically accrues value from both base staking and restaking rewards while staying completely liquid, allowing you to use it in other DeFi protocols.
Step 1: Get Your Wallet and Assets Ready
First, you'll need a supported wallet like MetaMask or a similar web3 wallet. Ensure you have some ETH on the Ethereum Mainnet to use for restaking, as well as a small amount of ETH for gas fees.
Step 2: Navigate to the Kelp DAO Platform
Go to the official Kelp DAO website. This is the main dashboard where you'll be able to manage your restaking.
Step 3: Connect Your Wallet
Click the "Connect Wallet" button, usually located in the top right corner. Select your wallet from the list and approve the connection. This allows the platform to interact with your assets securely.
Step 4: Choose Your Asset to Restake
The platform will show you a list of assets you can restake. The primary options are ETH or Liquid Staking Tokens (LSTs) like stETH.
Step 5: Input the Amount and Restake
Enter the amount of ETH you want to restake. The platform will automatically show you the amount of rsETH you will receive in return. This is a 1:1 conversion that begins to accrue value immediately. Once you've set the amount, click the "Restake" button.
Step 6: Confirm the Transaction
Your wallet will pop up and ask you to confirm the transaction. Review the details, including the gas fee, and click "Confirm." The transaction will then be processed on the Ethereum network.
Step 7: Check Your rsETH and Start Earning!
Once the transaction is complete, your rsETH will appear in your wallet!
