#ProjectCrypto On Thursday, SEC Chairman Paul Atkins delivered a speech marking the beginning of a new era for the leading regulator. After the SEC struggled against the blockchain industry for years through enforcement measures, the newly appointed Atkins announced an initiative called "Crypto Project," which will turn the U.S. into the "crypto capital of the world."

Atkins' speech came just a day after the White House released a 166-page report outlining its own approach to regulating the crypto industry, and a little over three months since he took office as head of the leading financial regulator. Atkins has repeatedly made it clear that he plans to take a completely different approach to regulating cryptocurrencies than his predecessor Gary Gensler, who was widely criticized by the industry.
