According to Businesswire, the non-bank lending institution and financial company Mill City Ventures III, Ltd. (NASDAQ:MCVT) announced that it has signed a securities purchase agreement to privately invest in public equity, purchasing and selling 83,025,830 shares of common stock at a price of $5.42 per share, with total proceeds expected to be approximately $450 million (net of placement agent fees and other issuance costs). Hedge fund Karatage acts as the lead investor, and the Sui Foundation also provides an equal investment. This issuance is expected to be completed around July 31, 2025. The company plans to use about 98% of the net proceeds from the private placement to acquire the native token SUI of the Sui blockchain and about 2% of the net proceeds to support the company's short-term loan business. SUI will serve as the company's main financial reserve asset.
On August 1st at 8:00 AM, SUI will face a large unlocking of 44 million Sui tokens, valued at $194 million. Although institutions participate in the SUI financial reserve plan, it is also possible that institutions intentionally release this positive news to offset the negative impact brought by the large unlocking! Therefore, everyone should view it rationally. If you want to build a position in Sui, it is recommended to buy in batches during dips.
