⚠️ WHAT IS HAPPENING?
In recent months, a new and dangerous scam modality has been detected in Binance's P2P trading:
the buyer makes the payment, receives the cryptocurrencies… and then reverses the money from their bank.
What’s the outcome?
You lose your cryptocurrencies and the money disappears from your bank account.
💥 HOW DOES THE SCAM WORK?
The buyer makes a real transfer from their bank.
You see the payment reflected in your account and, confident, you release the cryptocurrencies.
Once the cryptocurrencies are in their possession, the buyer contacts the bank and requests a reversal of the payment, claiming it was an error or an unauthorized transaction.
The bank —depending on the country— may proceed to reverse the payment, freeze your funds, or even block your account.
You end up without the money and without the cryptocurrencies.
🌍 IN WHICH COUNTRIES CAN IT HAPPEN?
This scam has been reported in several countries where banks:
Allow reversals of payments due to alleged errors or fraud.
They have consumer protection systems that can be exploited by scammers.
They process claims without verifying if the product or service (in this case crypto) has already been delivered.
It is more common in transfers made via:
Mobile banking apps
Immediate interbank payments (like Zelle, SEPA Instant, etc.)
Transfers without irreversible confirmation
🛡️ HOW TO PROTECT YOURSELF?
🔒 Do not release crypto until the money is fully confirmed.
📛 Verify that the payment holder matches the buyer's name on Binance.
📄 Keep all evidence: chats, order ID, deposit screenshots, receipts.
👁️ Always try to choose verified merchants
👁 Be wary of phrases like 'I need it urgently', 'release quickly', 'I already paid you, don’t you trust me?'
📲 Avoid trading outside banking hours if you cannot verify the payment with your bank.
👮♂️ AND IF YOU ARE SCAMMED?
Contact your bank immediately.
Open a ticket on Binance from the support center.
Gather all the evidence and file a formal complaint with the authorities for scam or electronic fraud.
Share your case with other traders to prevent it from happening again.
