Trump Gets Involved in Cambodia–Thailand Conflict — With Tariffs, Not Troops

As tensions rise between Cambodia and Thailand, former U.S. President Donald Trump is stepping into the spotlight — not with peace talks, but with more tariffs.
More than 33 lives lost and over 168,000 people displaced as the border conflict enters day three. While global leaders watch closely, Trump, currently in Scotland, posted a bold warning on Truth Social:
Tariffs as a Weapon
Trump claims he has already spoken to both Cambodian PM Hun Manet and Thailand’s acting PM Phumtham Wechayachai, pushing for peace. But his strategy isn’t subtle diplomacy — it’s economic pressure.
He’s already announced a 36% tariff on all exports from Cambodia and Thailand, starting August 1, unless the violence stops.
Peace or Penalties
Trump insists both sides want a quick resolution — and a return to trade talks with the U.S. But he’s firm: until there’s peace, “the trading table stays closed.”
This isn’t the first time Trump has used trade as leverage in international conflicts, but critics argue the method risks economic harm for ordinary citizens.
Still, with $TRUMP token up 0.49%, it seems the crypto community is watching Trump’s geopolitical plays just as closely as Wall Street is.
