Vietnam has made a significant leap towards digital transformation by launching NDAChain, the country's official national blockchain platform, on July 25, 2025. This step is part of a broader plan to create a secure, transparent, and efficient digital infrastructure capable of supporting everything from government services to global trade.

As Vietnam strives to become a leader in the digital economy of Southeast Asia, NDAChain will play a key role in protecting national data, strengthening digital trust, and creating smarter systems in finance, healthcare, education, logistics, and other fields.

As noted by Mr. Nguyen Hue from the National Data Association: "Vietnam has chosen a hybrid data architecture that combines centralized and decentralized components. NDAChain serves as a protective layer for the country's critical data, essential for our digital society and economy."

Why does Vietnam need a national blockchain? Vietnam's digital economy is rapidly evolving: over 100 million people generate vast amounts of data daily. However, traditional centralized systems are easily susceptible to cyber-attacks, data leaks, and hinder seamless information exchange between platforms.

Blockchain offers a solution by providing a secure, transparent, and unauthorized access-resistant method for storing and verifying data.

How NDAChain works
NDAChain is a layer-one blockchain with exclusive access that allows data to be authenticated only by authorized users. The network is supported by 49 validator nodes managed by companies, including Zalo, MISA, Masan, SunGroup, and state governments.

NDAChain uses a Proof-of-Authority (PoA) system, which is faster and less energy-intensive than previous protocols like Proof-of-Work. Additionally, it includes zero-knowledge proofs (ZKP) to ensure user privacy while still verifying data existence. With support for up to 3600 transactions per second, NDAChain is designed for mass adoption in leading industries.

Real-life application
One of the most significant use cases for NDAChain is NDA DID, a digital identification solution that allows citizens to securely verify their identity when conducting online transactions or signing digital contracts. This prevents attempts at impersonation, fraud, and deceit in private and public services.

Another important feature is NDATrace, a product tracking system that assigns a unique code to each product. This helps confirm the authenticity of the product and its compliance with quality standards. NDATrace is compatible with EU regulations, facilitating the entry of Vietnamese products into global markets.

Vietnam has joined more than 50 countries, such as BSN (China), EBSI (EU), and Klaytn (South Korea), in developing its own national blockchain platforms to ensure digital governance and innovation.

NDAChain stands out with its strong public-private partnership and adherence to global standards such as GDPR and W3C DID. The project is closely integrated with Vietnam's National Data Processing Center, providing a secure nationwide data infrastructure.

By the end of 2025, the project will be fully integrated into the national system, and by 2026 it will cover local authorities and universities. The second phase will involve training specialists, international cooperation, and developing useful tools such as digital wallets and electronic signatures.

Despite its solid foundation, NDAChain faces a number of challenges. These include technical integration with existing systems, gaining public trust, ensuring international compatibility, and managing risks associated with market volatility in digital assets.
