💥Money Laundering of Cryptocurrencies at the Speed of Light Exposes Vulnerabilities of CEX
A recent report from Global Ledger reveals an alarming trend: in the first half of 2025, more than USD 3.010 billion in cryptocurrencies were stolen, and money laundering was completed in minutes, even before the hacks became public.
Attackers quickly move funds through mixers, bridges, and centralized exchanges (CEX). In nearly 23% of cases, the laundering was completed before the incident was disclosed. This leaves AML and VASP systems at a disadvantage, with only 4.2% of funds recovered. CEXs are urged to implement automated real-time monitoring and response systems to combat this speed.
