Aussies are being hit hard by a wave of phishing scams, with cybercrime also using fear and urgency to trick people into handing over their money—and especially their crypto.
According to the National Anti-Scam Centre’s Scamwatch, more than 16,700 phishing scam reports were filed between January 1 and March 23, 2025. That’s a staggering jump, with Aussies losing over $11.1 million—a 200% increase in financial losses compared to the same period in 2024.
