$BNB The House Oversight Subcommittee approved a motion on Wednesday with a vote of 8 to 2, deciding to issue a subpoena to the Department of Justice, demanding the release of investigation files related to Jeffrey Epstein.

According to committee rules, the chairman of the oversight committee, James Comer, must sign the subpoena for it to take effect.

Republican representatives Nancy Mace, Scott Perry, and Brian Jack joined four Democratic members of the subcommittee and the committee chairman, Robert Garcia, to approve the subpoena, an action that openly challenges the Republican leadership in the House, which had hoped to leave the handling of matters related to Epstein to the Trump administration.

The most senior Democrat on the subcommittee, Representative Summer Lee, introduced the motion.
