The U.S. GENIUS Act is a proposed federal framework designed to regulate stablecoins, with a focus on financial stability and consumer protection. It requires all stablecoins to be backed 1:1 by high-quality liquid assets—such as U.S. dollars or short-term Treasury securities.

Under the act:

Issuers with over $10 billion in circulation will be subject to federal oversight.

Smaller issuers may operate under state regulation, provided they align with federal standards.

🔑 Key Provisions:

No interest-bearing stablecoins

Mandatory reserve disclosures

Priority treatment in bankruptcy

Compliance with AML (Anti-Money Laundering) and KYC (Know Your Customer) requirements is mandatory for all issuers.
