The value of cryptocurrencies surpasses 4 trillion dollars for the first time ever
The market capitalization of cryptocurrencies has risen above the 4 trillion dollar mark for the first time ever, driven by gains in the crypto market following increasing legislative momentum in the United States to regulate the sector.
During Friday's trading, the market capitalization of cryptocurrencies reached approximately 4.003 trillion dollars, according to data from "CoinGecko".
This was supported by the U.S. House of Representatives voting on three bills to regulate the cryptocurrency sector, paving the way for a structured legislative framework for the sector and for the dominance of the United States in crypto assets.
Alternative coins - which are all digital assets other than Bitcoin - led the recent surge, as the price of Ethereum rose by 5% to 3615.78 dollars, and Ripple by 3.1% to 3.461 dollars.
Meanwhile, Bitcoin decreased by 0.4% to 118,997 dollars, reducing its market capitalization to 2.36 trillion dollars, accounting for 60% of the total value of cryptocurrencies.
