This time TAC is launching on Binance, but I am wondering, with Telegram's billion-user base here, once DeFi protocols like Curve and Euler can run smoothly in the chat box, will it allow more ordinary people to encounter DeFi for the first time? When social software becomes an entry point for decentralized finance, this water might be deeper than we imagine.
Simply put, Tac is a layer one network, with the core role of acting as a 'bridge': it connects various DApps on the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) steadily to the TON and Telegram ecosystem. What does this mean? Telegram users don't need to switch to other places; they can directly use DeFi protocols like Curve and Morpho in the chat window, significantly lowering the operational threshold.
For developers, it's even more reassuring: previously, moving EVM applications to TON required starting from scratch to modify the code, but now with Tac, major changes aren't necessary, allowing access to Telegram's billion users, which is quite an attractive flow.
Speaking of which, the Tac project was announced in July 2024, built on TON, has its own jetton (similar to ERC-20 tokens on Ethereum), and collaborates with other projects in the TON ecosystem, aiming to 'add value' to TON.
There is actually a little background behind this: at the beginning of 2025, Telegram changed its rules, and Mini Apps only support the TON blockchain. Developers from other chains who want to enter have to adapt, and Tac just addresses this pain point, allowing EVM developers to easily get involved.
It is worth mentioning that the Tac team operates independently and is not affiliated with TON or Telegram, and their funding situation is quite good, having raised a total of 11.5 million dollars, with the recent round of 5 million led by Hack VC, indicating that capital has a positive outlook on this.
Of course, opinions within the community about Telegram's operations vary; some feel it is not 'decentralized' enough, but the TON Foundation believes that from the perspective of security and scalability, this move is correct.
