#Write2Earn Tether will cease support for USDT on five "legacy" blockchains
The company Tether, the issuer of the world's largest stablecoin USDT, has announced that it will cease support for its USDT and EURT tokens on five blockchains. Starting from September 1, 2025, the company will stop redeeming tokens and freeze their balances on the Omni, Bitcoin Cash SLP, Kusama, EOS, and Algorand networks. This was reported on the company's website.
Recommendations for users
On centralized exchanges (CEX): If your USDT or EURT is on an account with an exchange such as Binance, Bybit, Kraken, etc., you most likely do not need to do anything. Exchanges typically handle the entire technical process of migrating their clients' assets from legacy networks to supported ones. They will do this automatically. On personal wallets (DEX, DeFi): If you store tokens on your own non-custodial wallet (for example, MetaMask, Trust Wallet) and interact with decentralized protocols, you need to take action yourself. You should exchange tokens for dollars/euros or transfer them using specialized bridges to one of the supported blockchains (for example, Ethereum, Tron, Solana). Otherwise, after September 1, your assets on these five networks may be frozen.
