I am a post-90s girl based in Shanghai. I have not faced much hardship in my life, and after graduating from university, I entered the workforce in a structured manner like my peers. At that time, I thought this might be my life, how boring it would be... I am really too extroverted, I like to engage in new things, I enjoy making new friends, and I absolutely cannot stand sitting in an office from nine to five, doing monotonous clerical work day after day. After changing several administrative assistant jobs, I increasingly felt that this life trajectory was not suitable for me because I didn't want to waste my youth on copying documents and organizing spreadsheets. I want a more free and challenging career.
After meeting my mentor, I decided to switch to sales. With my good communication skills and network resources, I quickly found my stage in the Hong Kong insurance and investment immigration sector. This job allowed me to interact with more high-net-worth clients and sparked my strong interest in financial investment. Later, I met my boyfriend, who is a seasoned cryptocurrency investor. Under his guidance, I officially stepped into this field full of unknowns and opportunities.
To be honest, at first, I only had heard of cryptocurrencies (like Bitcoin and Ethereum) and could even say I knew nothing about them, haha. With my partner's patient explanations, I quickly understood the value of blockchain technology and began to learn how to analyze market trends, how to read charts, and other technical skills. What attracts me most about the cryptocurrency world is its infinite possibilities, no fixed working hours, and no rigid workplace rules. As long as you have insight and are willing to learn, there are opportunities to earn returns far exceeding those of traditional industries.
I was doing sales while investing in cryptocurrency with my spare cash. Initially, it was just small trades, but as I gained experience, my judgment became increasingly accurate, and my returns steadily grew. Although the market is very volatile, I learned to control risks and no longer blindly chase after rising and falling prices like a novice. Gradually, cryptocurrency investment became my second source of income, and in some months with good market conditions, my earnings exceeded my main job.
When I excitedly shared my investment results with friends around me, I was surprised to be met not with congratulations, but with doubts and ridicule. Many of them knew nothing about cryptocurrency, yet they insisted, saying, 'How do you feel like you've been scammed into a pig-butchering scheme!' Some even sarcastically remarked, 'Don't lose your principal one day!'
To be honest, I was quite disappointed... Shanghai is an international financial center, and my peers should have a higher acceptance of emerging things, right? Yet their understanding is so limited. I felt very unconvinced at the time and emphasized to them that I was trading on Binance, the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange, not some shady platform, but they still thought I was obsessed.
In the end, I decided to distance myself from these friends. With different understandings, we are destined not to walk the same path. Our thinking is already on different levels. Rather than wasting my breath arguing, it's better to spend my time on self-improvement and connecting with better circles.
Fortunately, my parents are very supportive of me and even set aside some money for me to help them invest, haha. Cryptocurrency investment has become an important part of my life. It not only allowed me to earn considerable 'pocket money' but also enabled me to take care of our 10 cats at home (that's right, I'm a cat slave, hahaha).
