And then... do market makers manipulate or simply exploit the excess retail leverage?

There is a subtle difference.

Following the trend is essential, of course. But how do you distinguish a true change from a fake breakout?

How many have burned themselves by "following the flow" too late?

Perhaps the point is not to fight the trend, but to understand when the trend is truly healthy.
