GetBlock Magazine - What happened? Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, together with blockchain analyst Tony Varshteyn, proposed to establish a new gas limit for transactions on the network. The limit may be set as part of Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP) number 7983.

What else is known? EIP-7983 introduces a gas limit of 16.77 million units per transaction. Currently, Ethereum has a block gas limit of 36 million units with no limit on each individual transaction.
It is expected that the transaction limit will improve the network's resilience to denial-of-service (DoS) attacks, enhance its stability, and offer more predictable transaction processing costs.
In May, Buterin called for simplifying the base protocol of the Ethereum network to enhance efficiency, security, and accessibility. He proposed restructuring the network architecture at the consensus and execution levels and making it more compact over the next five years.
According to the developer, the growing complexity of Ethereum has led to increased development time, higher costs, and increased security risks.
