The President of the United States, Donald Trump, confirmed that he will begin sending out the first informational letters to trade partners on Monday, July 7, regarding the imposition of tariffs or the bilateral agreements reached. This action takes place in the context of a countdown to August 1, the date on which duties will come into effect for countries that have not managed to finalize an agreement with Washington.
"I am pleased to announce that the letters regarding U.S. tariffs, and/or agreements, with several countries around the world will be delivered starting at 12:00 p.m. (Eastern Time) on Monday, July 7," Trump posted on his official account on the Truth Social network.
The president explained that he has already signed nearly a dozen of these letters. "I believe we will have most countries ready by July 9, whether it be a letter or an agreement," Trump stated to the press, in remarks reported by the Bloomberg agency. "We have also made deals, so we will have a combination of letters and some deals have been made."
