I've been thinking about how to tell the story of 'BTC Yield' well. #MichaelSaylor暗示增持BTC
In the past few years, we've heard too many versions: some involve packaging BTC and bridging it to another ecosystem as 'foreign aid', while others are various financial products launched by centralized institutions. I always feel that the core of these stories is somewhat lacking. The former sacrifices the non-custodial and native nature of BTC, while the latter goes against the original intention of decentralization. In the end, the story always encounters the soul-searching questions: 'Is the asset still that BTC?' and 'Where does the yield actually come from?'
Recently, while researching the BTC L2 track, the GOATRollup project provided an interesting new script.
First, it attempts to solve the problem of 'nativism'. The project materials mention BitVM2 and zkMIPS, and these technical terms point to a core narrative: to allow BTC to scale and yield without leaving the mainnet or being centrally managed. It's like building a native 'vault' for Bitcoin, this 'digital gold', protected by the safety rules of the mainnet, rather than transporting it to banks in other countries. The foundation of this story is rooted in Bitcoin itself.
Secondly, it provides a clear explanation of the source of 'real yield'. The yield mainly comes from two parts: income shared by decentralized sequencers and Gas fees generated from on-chain activities. The logic is straightforward: if there is a prosperous ecosystem of activities (such as DApp interactions and transactions) on L2, it will generate transaction fees (Gas), and this portion of the yield will be distributed in the form of BTC to BTC stakers who provide security and liquidity for the network.
From the perspective of content creation, a good story requires a clear main line, coherent logic, and value propositions that meet audience expectations. GOATRollup's narrative precisely hits several pain points in the current market: anxiety about asset security, weariness of 'Ponzi yields', and expectations for the native ecosystem of Bitcoin.
Of course, a good script does not equal a successful movie. Whether this L2 can ultimately attract enough developers and users to create a prosperous on-chain economy still needs time to verify. But at least, it provides a more closely aligned narrative with the spirit of Bitcoin, and one that is also more logically sound as a 'BTC Yield' story template.
