American Political Turmoil: Elon Musk Launches America Party, Directly Challenges Donald Trump & Congress
Now Elon Musk officially launches America Party, which he also describes as the right moment on US Independence Day to declare independence from a political system he deems corrupted by personal interests and bureaucratic corruption.
The main trigger for Elon Musk's decision is the passage of a controversial bill called the Big Beautiful Bill (BBB), a tax and spending legislation.
This move is reported to be taken as a form of resistance against what he calls a "one-party system with two different names" in the United States, referring to the dominance of the Republican and Democratic Parties.
Through his social media platform X @elonmusk, Musk writes that this party is formed to “Today, America Party is formed to restore your freedom,” Musk wrote on his X account, Saturday (July 6, 2025) local time.
According to CNBC and The New York Post, he believes the current two-party system has lost its way and no longer represents the interests of the broader public.
He also mentioned that US Independence Day is the right moment to declare independence from a political system he finds corrupted by personal interests and bureaucratic corruption.
Before this announcement, Musk held a poll on platform X. The results showed that more than 65 percent of 1.25 million respondents expressed support for the formation of a new party.
