An Unskilled IT Guy Made $500,000 by Scamming Silicon Valley Startups
Indian programmer Soham Parekh managed to earn around $500,000 in a year by deceiving dozens of startups with fake resumes. He lied about academic degrees and easily passed interviewsādespite not knowing how to do the actual job.
He worked for 2ā3 months at a time, sabotaged tasks, and made up excuses like ābombingsā in his hometown by Pakistanādespite being thousands of kilometers away from India. Then heād resign and move on to the next company.
The story was first revealed by the founder of Mixpanel. Afterward, several other startup CEOs came forward, saying theyād fallen for the same scheme.
