Technology billionaire Elon Musk officially announced the formation of his new political party, America Party, on Saturday, July 5, 2025, with ambitions to challenge the dominance of the Republican and Democratic Parties in the United States midterm elections in 2026.

This surprising move marks a significant political shift for Musk, who was previously known as an ally of US President Donald Trump.
Now, he takes an opposing stance, particularly regarding Trump's tax bill which Musk believes will bankrupt the country.
"With a 2-to-1 factor, you want a new political party and you will get it! In terms of bankrupting our country with waste and corruption, we are living in a one-party system, not a democracy," Musk emphasized in his statement on X, as reported by The Week.
