There are assumptions that these assets may belong to Ross Ulbricht - the owner of the anonymous drug platform Silk Road. Ulbricht has been serving a life sentence since May 28, 2015, but was pardoned by U.S. President Donald Trump on January 22, 2025.
At that time, there were rumors that he obtained the pardon in exchange for donations of large sums from his secret crypto reserves, which American authorities could not track and confiscate during his arrest.
