⚠️ Concerns & Challenges:
1. User Experience (UX) Friction:
The QR scanning and connection flow can be unintuitive for new users.
Some wallets or dApps still use outdated WalletConnect v1, causing compatibility issues.
2. Security Risks on dApps:
While WalletConnect itself is secure, users can still fall victim to phishing dApps or malicious transactions.
3. Fragmentation in the Ecosystem:
Multiple standards (WalletConnect, MetaMask Snap, browser wallets) can create a confusing landscape for users and developers.
4. Relayer Dependency:
Although v2 reduces this, many implementations still rely on WalletConnect’s relayers, creating a potential bottleneck or point of failure.
🧭 My Take:
WalletConnect is a crucial part of the Web3 user experience puzzle, enabling wallet interoperability in a trust-minimized way. However, to truly scale to mainstream adoption, WalletConnect and the broader ecosystem need to:
Simplify onboarding,
Increase education on safe wallet practices,
Move toward more seamless, persistent wallet connections (without repeated scanning or approval fatigue).
