The Judgment
In an airport, a young woman was waiting for her flight. As the wait prolonged, she bought a box of cookies and a book to pass the time. She started to read.
Meanwhile, a man sat next to her, also with a book. The moment she took her first cookie placed on the seat next to her, she was surprised to see that the man took one too… from the same box as hers!
She began to get angry inside, wondering if she should give him a punch for his lack of manners. Every time she took a cookie, he also took one, which increased her anger, but she held back.
When there was only one cookie left in the box, she looked at him wondering: “What is this rude man going to do now?” To her great surprise, he split the cookie in half, ate one half, and left her the other.
She thought it was unbearable, but again swallowed her anger, took her book, and boarded the plane.
Once seated in her seat, she opened her bag and discovered with astonishment… that her own box of cookies was still there, intact in her bag!
The surprise was immense, and she felt a great shame. She finally understood that the box she had eaten from was the man’s, who had been very generous to share his cookies with her, without complaining.
She regretted not having found the words or the moment to apologize for her poor judgment.
Moral:
Don’t judge too quickly. What seems rude can hide generosity. Patience and kindness are always rewarded.
