Trump's tax and spending bill requires more time

Debates in the U.S. Senate on President Donald Trump's massive bill have been postponed indefinitely. Lawmakers are actively proposing amendments, including those related to the regulation of digital assets.

The voting procedure in the Senate allows lawmakers to propose amendments that are immediately put to a vote. At the time of publication, the debates on the Republican bill, dubbed "One Big Beautiful Bill," had already lasted 17 hours. Representatives from both parties are prepared to consider hundreds of proposed changes.

The House of Representatives approved this bill in May by a narrow margin of 215 votes to 214. The Republican majority in the Senate is extremely slim, making the outcome of the vote in the upper chamber of Congress uncertain.
