[#Futures Rule Number 8] Don’t Force Trades After a Loss—know when to step away and take a break. Continuing to trade in the heat of emotion often leads to revenge trading and deeper drawdowns. Studies show that pausing after losses helps traders regain objectivity, reset their mindset, and avoid impulsive decisions. Build in “cool-off” periods whenever you hit a drawdown threshold; sometimes the best trade is no trade at all. I sometimes make silly mistakes and get thrown off by erratic candle movements, so stepping away and taking a break really helps me reset my mindset.
