The Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) index is a key indicator used by the Federal Reserve to measure inflation in the U.S. economy. For the May data, known as US Core PCE May, this report shows how prices have changed for goods and services purchased by individuals in the United States, excluding the more volatile food and energy prices.

If the numbers indicate rising inflation, this could lead the Federal Reserve to make decisions to raise interest rates to combat inflationary pressures. Conversely, if the numbers indicate slowing inflation, it may suggest that the current monetary policy is effective in controlling prices.
