Iran Probably Won’t Close Strait of Hormuz

Iran has said it might close the Strait of Hormuz, an important waterway for oil trade. But experts think it’s not likely to happen.

If Iran did block the strait, it could upset nearby countries and important trade partners. It might also hurt Iran’s own economy—especially its oil trade with Asia. China, which buys most of Iran’s oil, could be unhappy with such a move.

So, while Iran talks tough, experts believe it will not follow through.
