Mehdi Farouk, a partner at the crypto fund Hypersphere, reported a loss of about $100,000 as a result of a phishing attack. The scammers organized a fake Zoom call and convinced him to update the application to 'fix the sound.'

After the update, his laptop was compromised, and assets from six wallets were stolen.

'Years of savings disappeared in minutes,' he wrote.

Hypersphere co-founder Jack Purdy confirmed the incident, clarifying that only Farouk's personal funds were affected — the fund's assets were not impacted.
