Iran has cut off national internet and international phone access in response to a massive cyber attack from Israel. The government describes this step as an emergency measure for national security.
NetBlocks reported that internet traffic has dropped by more than 90%. The Iranian government has also warned citizens to delete WhatsApp, although Meta denies the allegations of espionage.
This extreme measure indicates an escalation of the conflict that has now spread into the digital realm where war is no longer conducted solely through missiles, but also through networks and data.
