WalletConnect is an on-chain user experience (UX) ecosystem for connecting wallets and dApps. For example, if you want to log in to some web3-related websites via your mobile phone, you can use it to scan a QR code to log in.
The most common time I personally used it was during the GameFi era in 2021, when people were generally using TP wallet. When authorizing some computer games, it was convenient to log in by scanning a QR code.
It was also commonly used for authorizing participation in various on-chain projects, providing a very high level of convenience.

For instance, you can participate in future decisions of the project and have voting rights in decision-making.
It can also be used for staking to earn rewards, as well as becoming a builder to receive rewards (node operation, technology, etc.)
