Cardano is preparing for a hard fork within the era
In its latest report, Input Output revealed that preparations have begun for a hard fork within the era later this year.
After careful consideration, the Cardano ledger team has spent the past four weeks updating the database, reducing technical debt, and preparing for the expected internal fork. There has been a significant focus on CDDL improvements, leading to better readability and fixing old bugs from the Byron era. Additionally, another bug has been fixed in preparation for the internal fork, and preliminary work on interleaved transactions is currently underway.
In the coming days, significant improvements to the Cardano node are expected as the network shifts towards a more diverse and scalable ecosystem, enhancing stability and scalability. These improvements include: log-structured merge trees (LSM) to improve memory efficiency, adjusted incentives for staking pools to enhance diversity, anti-fragmentation measures to strengthen the consensus layer, and a tiered pricing structure for expected transactions.
