Elon Musk's X announces payment service - also for cryptocurrencies?

Elon Musk is likely getting closer to his goal of turning the messaging service X (formerly Twitter) into a "super app". As X CEO Linda Yaccarino confirmed to the Financial Times, the platform will "soon" launch its first payment services for "trades" and "investments". Recently, X formed a partnership with Visa for this purpose. In 2023, the company also acquired a license for trading digital assets. By then, rumors about a possible crypto integration on X are expected to persist. The company has not yet commented specifically on this. According to Yaccarino's statements, the plans will likely initially include payments with credit cards and peer-to-peer transfers, similar to PayPal.

A crypto integration, however, does not seem to be completely ruled out in the long run. Musk himself has fueled speculation about this several times, not least through his engagement with Dogecoin.

Musk, on the other hand, has categorically ruled out the launch of his own X token.
